Choose the right Bed for a Healthy Sleep

Many people do not get the required amount of healthy sleep needed in one’s lifetime. This is due to the fact that most of us are not sleeping in the correct bed for our body. People who have little or disrupted sleep are not allowing their body to healthily rest and recover. It is imperative therefore to make every minute count and receive maximum rest.

What is healthy sleep?
Healthy sleep is the quality of sleep that occurs when the body is fully relaxed and aided to rejuvenate at its utmost during deep sleep.
Beds for Backs are the pioneers of restful, healthy sleep. Putting time and energy in to sleep research, Beds for Backs have devised bed systems to ensure you get a night’s rest that is good for your body.
For our bodies to be at their healthiest, we need a balanced diet, exercise and a rejuvenating sleep (healthy sleep). Beds for Backs have designed a range of comfortable and supportive beds and bases that enable you to have a rejuvenating sleep for improved health.

Sleeping in the wrong bed can lead to a range of health problems including back and neck pain, interrupted breathing, osteoporosis and more. If you wake up in the morning feeling lethargic, stiff or sore, you are probably sleeping in the wrong bed.

If you have a question? - or want to learn more about the correct bed system for you call Beds for Backs on 1800 185 185 or visit one of our stores.

Poor Circulation
Restlessness (tossing and turning) during sleep is very often a sure sign of poor blood circulation. If it does not occur whilst you are awake and when lying on a comfortable couch or chair, and only during a sleep on your bed - it is caused by the support material in your mattress. Usually caused by firm box springs held together by small diameter helical shaped wire. Beds for Backs understand this and will show you which mattress types minimise this. We also have expensive testing equipment that can be used for helping people where this is a major problem.

Interrupted Breathing
Sleeping in the wrong bed can be bad for your breathing and cause interruption to your sleep. Lack of oxygen can contribute to restlessness and the common sleep problem, snoring. Air passageways can be affected by posture which is why Beds for Backs have devised bed systems that will improve posture to allow a good night’s rest. For those of you who need to sleep in an elevated posture - don’t buy a bed until you are shown the common pitfalls that uninformed retailers (and even a few Health Professionals) sell and recommend. Our adjustable beds with automatic Lumbar support were designed specifically for you.

Partner Disturbance
Healthy sleep can be interrupted by partner disturbance. This commonly occurs as each partner is different in shape, size and weight. Beds and bases at Beds for Backs are designed to support partner differences and absorb partner movement, ensuring you get a healthy night’s sleep. We offer Queen and King size mattresses which are manufactured in half width and can be kept separate or zipped together as is found to be best. This is also a safety feature for heavy spring and latex mattresses.

Neck Pain
Mattresses without specific ‘shoulder areas’ place a lot of stress on shoulders, upper spine and neck.

This is true of all beds on the market today, except beds from ‘ergo-posture’ exclusive to Beds for Backs. If you wake up most mornings without neck stiffness and pain, your bed is still exerting the stresses, but your body is able to withstand them without complaining - for the present.
Since the bed you’re buying now should be the bed you will sleep on for the next 10 years or so, will you subject your shoulder, upper spine and neck to such stresses? We urge you not to - for your health’s sake.

Back Problems
Back problems can arise from a number of reasons but need to be supported by the bed you sleep in.

It is generally true that - if you go to bed without any back stiffness or soreness and wake up with one - then - directly or indirectly, the bed is responsible for it.

Beds for Backs help to provide sleep and bedding knowledge to ensure our customers understand which bed models will help improve their current back pain.

Our special ‘back-support beds’ will restore your lumbar curve and reduce stresses on your disks thus reducing back pain for a quality night’s sleep.

Osteoporosis
People that suffer from this condition have enough problems in their daily life already. Sleeping on an incorrect bed can enhance aches and pains associated with the condition.

They need a good night’s sleep and in particular - their bodies need to be supported with minimal pressure and stresses on their bones. Many soft beds that support with low body pressure can help but only our ‘ergo-posture’ beds can minimize the stresses placed by all normal beds on the human body’s bones and joints.

The Technology used in the ‘ergo-posture’ range of beds was developed in Australia by Mr. Mario Piraino. It has been Scientifically tested and proven. It is now being offered to the bedding industry worldwide. ..... - Yes we ARE the clever country.

Test Don’t Guess
Many of us quickly choose a bed after testing it for a short amount of time, without thinking about what is best for our body. Beds and bases chosen on a whim will cause sleep interruption from our unsupported posture, body alignment, breathing and more. At Beds for Backs we have a knowledgeable team offering valuable information, enabling you to make the bed decision that is best for you.

Here is a very simple 4 step test to determine (and show you) how effective your bed is supporting your body. It can also be used when out doing your research and choosing a new bed.

  • Put on a striped top
  • Lie on your side - on the bed you are testing
  • Get your partner (or anyone) to note the alignment of the lines on your top. The distortion noticeable on your top reflect the distortion of Your pelvis, upper torso an spine.

Here are a few reasons why the wrong bed can contribute to health problems:

Poor Circulation

Interrupted Breathing

Partner Disturbance

Neck Pain
