Q: Do I need prior experience in the retail bedding business?
No. Previous experience in sales or managing a retail or professional business is an advantage and the preferred way to becoming a franchisee with Beds for Backs, however our extensive training and years of experience will help you operate your own store. Beds for Backs has been operating in the Melbourne metropolitan area since 1998. The management team have over 30 years experience in bedding and business. Beds for Backs own the Ergo-posture bed range which is based on patented, innovative Australian technology which produces the "real" body alignment everyone else promises but does not deliver. This alignment is essential to receiving good body rest and rejuvenation during sleep. Hence they have been classified as 'medical devices' and are marketed as "Health Beds". These products remain exclusive to the franchise. All Beds for Backs Ergo-posture range of beds are protected by patents controlled by our brand group.

Q: Are sales restricted to showroom visits?
No, sales of our bed systems, include but are not limited to consumer direct, corporate sales, health professional referral, customer referrals, injury Insurance provider, repeat sales and services.
Q: Does the Franchisee have a say in the marketing?
Beds for Backs offer a unique marketing initiative, whereby the local marketing is fully controlled by a co-operative of Franchisees to ensure every $ is spent effectively and targeted. The Beds for Backs Franchisor maintains the General marketing of the brand by incorporating a Marketing fee which is a proportion of weekly sales.
Q: Do I need back up stock?
Beds for Backs use a made to order process, so you do not need any other stock than the showroom stock. This minimises an ongoing financial commitment to stock for our Franchisees. Our showroom stock range is comprehensive ,and we have beds to suit every customer and budget level. Due to our make to order process our floor stock turn ranges from an enviable 10 to a staggering 50 per year. That's right each bed on the showroom can be sold 10 to 50 times over before you need to replace the floorstock model, to maintain fresh merchandise.
Q: Why do you charge an initial franchise fee , showroom establishment fee and a training fee?
These fees are in consideration of the Beds for Backs establishing, and maintaining the business and in particular compensates for;
The initial right to use the established Beds for Backs intellectual property, and the provison of training and assistance prior to the initial commencement of trading . Together with the supervision by Beds for Backs of the complete design, construction and fit out of the store. We offer a turn-key operation franchise.
Q: Can I get involved in locating the showroom?
As we embark on a National and International Rollout of our brand, we do rely on the franchisee to get involved in the Property Management,( location). The Franchisee has a greater opportunity to select a more appropriate location generally due to having a greater access to the local demographics and dynamics of the area. We still provide a quality assurance to this process as we have a standard criteria selection process that we use to offer a final approval.
Q: The Franchisee fee (6%) is set as a percentage of your weekly sales so that we only benefit as you do. What is the Marketing Fee?
The Marketing Fee is to pool the marketing contributions in a fund for all franchisees to maximise any possible marketing benefits. This fee is set at 4% . The Franchise fee will enable us to service you effectively, providing support to the brand system for you.
Q: What is the investment required to open a franchise with Beds for Backs?
The estimated initial investment for a showroom ranges from $250,000 to $400,000 which is dependent on showroom size and location.
Q: What will be my Return of Investment?
This relies on the growth , profitability , proactiveness of the franchise owner as many sales streams are available of the business under your ownership. Stock holdings maintain a minimal ongoing financial commitment. As we manufacture and pay no overseas company licence fees etc our margins are high. These elements assist in providing a Return of Investment in a shorter time than other bed retailers. We would hope that your investment pays you handsome returns, however we cannot predict or guarantee what this return may be.
Q: What is the length of my franchise agreement?
We offer a 5year + 5 year franchise term. The initial term is also subject to the term of your lease.
Q:How soon after approval can I expect to open my store?
The Franchisee must operate the business within 6 months of signing the Franchise Agreement. If a location is found earlier then upon the successful completion of the initial training , commencement of trading will occur.
Q: Do I have opportunities for multiple-location ownership?
For qualified individuals , we have multi-location development opportunities. This is assessed on an individual basis.
Q: Will I be able to sell the business in the future?
Yes. The franchise is yours to sell under certain guidelines and conditions. Beds for Backs will need to give approval on the selection of the new franchisees in the same way that you have been approved. The purchaser will continue the operation of the franchise.
